PIREP - Stark Avionics

As numerous people, I appreciate pireps from people with experience with shops you use (positive or negative) and like to offer my experience for your consideration of others at the same time. After a so-so experience within a recent avionics install, I discovered myself looking for an alternate avenue to the installation of a brand new transponder for ADS-B compliance. I called two local shops first. The cost of one was so high which i actually busted out laughing on the phone as if I were at the comedy bar. He was apparently less amused because i. I was telling the story of my local quote to some friend with the airport and the man recommended that we call John Stark at Stark Avionics for the quote. In doing my research before calling John, I browsed Mooneyspace and BT for pireps around the shop. In doing so, I stumbled upon a totally terrible pirep on Stark Avionics. (Search in BT if you want you just read it). This pirep caused me serious concern about if you should call Stark for any quote.

I posted a general query for suggestions about an avionics shop and received another recommendation for Stark from another MSer (Oldguy). He i spoke in reference to his exposure to Stark i chose to give John a phone call in line with the two recommendations I coming from trusted sources. I was open with John regarding my concerns regarding the negative pirep on MS and the fact that I was gun shy in line with the previous experience. As they always say, there are two sides to every single story and John took his time for it to explain his side in my opinion like me certain he can be happy to use anyone else who wishes to call him up and need rest. Our conversation shifted from the pirep to pricing. John and that i discussed different equipment options, what can work best with my needs/wants and the flat fee installed price for every option. We ultimately chose to install the Stratus ESGi for ADS-B in/out. John quoted us a soft price, but was at the start how the number might be slightly higher when the tray was riveted in (as much Mooneys are). I went to manchester airport that night, took pictures and confirmed that my trays were attached with screws and forwarded those pictures to John. John responded in a very timely manner and confirmed the one-time fee price to the equipment and install in writing so we scheduled the install date and pickup date. The plane was to be dropped off the Sunday after Thanksgiving. John said although have all the feaures ready by Tuesday, however i opted to schedule the pickup for Wednesday in the event there are some snags as you go along.
